The Beginning

It Started with One Box

When I decided to propose, I spent weeks searching for the perfect ring box. Nothing felt right — everything was either mass-produced or didn't match the weight of the moment. So I walked into my garage, picked up a piece of walnut, and made one myself.

She said yes. And then her friends started asking where I got the box. That was five years ago.

Today, Bold Oak has shipped hundreds of ring boxes to couples across the country. But every single one is still made by hand, in my workshop, one at a time.

The Process

From Raw Timber to Heirloom

Every piece begins with wood selection. I source hardwoods from sustainable mills — black walnut from Missouri, cherry from Pennsylvania, white oak from the Appalachian foothills.

From there, each box is shaped using a combination of hand tools and precision machinery. Every surface is sanded through eight grits and finished with natural oils that bring out the wood's depth.

The interiors are lined by hand with velvet or silk, and hardware is sourced from small brass foundries.
